Shiritori・英語しりとり

FAQ

What dictionary is used?

Shiritori uses a comprehensive dictionary with over 280,000 allowed words. Every word in the official tournament Scrabble dictionary is allowed in Shiritori. The only exception is that a small number of words with 30 or more letters have been excluded.

Why is the word "..." not allowed?

Please be aware that proper nouns (names) are not allowed. Also, although the game dictionary is comprehensive, the English language has an almost limitless supply of obscure words, so a line needs to be drawn somewhere.

Can we get "..." added to the dictionary?

As a general rule, individual words are not added to the dictionary because the dictionary is already comprehensive. If you strongly believe a word should be added, you can send a comment via one of the methods on the Feedback page.

Can we get "..." removed from the dictionary?

Several very long words have been removed from the dictionary because they gave too big an advantage to players who memorized them. In general, words with fewer than 30 letters will not be removed. If you strongly believe a word should be removed, you can send a comment via one of the methods on the Feedback page.

I have an idea for how to improve the game.
